Best watch I've owned December 2, 2007 C. Winton (Jacksonville, FL USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I discovered this watch a few years ago after going through any number of other types: digital, analog, databanks, you name it. This one has by far been the best of the lot. As a case in point, when the strap eventually wears out and breaks (after about 2 years), twice now I've shopped around and ended up getting another one of these since nothing better seems to have come out in the meantime; i.e., I'm now on my 3rd one. Why? Well, I've leaned to appreciate simpler functionality. What I determined I like and actually use in a watch are large digits, thin package, current date, back light, a timer, and a wake-up alarm and no more. I have a perfectly capable PDA for more complex functionality. That's exactly what this watch provides, as do a precious few others. However this one does so really well and at a budget price to boot. First of all it is really thin and comfortable to wear, a huge factor. I got awfully tired of the big clunky watches that represent most of the market. Second, the digits are large enough that I can read them at night with the backlight even when I don't have my glasses on. Third, it is really easy to reset. Others complain of doing this by accident, but that has not been my experience. When I fly to another time zone, I've always reset my watch for the new time zone as soon as we're in the air ... it's trivial with this one, but for others requires punching a recessed button with a pen or something even more difficult on a bouncing plane. The alarm is effective enough to rouse me when I'm traveling, and the ease of setting it provides real confidence I've done so correctly (something I've been burned on more than once with unfamiliar alarm devices such as those provided in hotels). The timer is a bit of icing, but I find I use it surprisingly often. I might also note that the product is tough. I do a lot of stuff with my hands and have knocked it around and dirtied it up more than I care to admit, but a quick rinse generally returns it to acceptable appearance again. If you're like me and want a stylish, thin, and fairly basic digital watch, I think you will find there isn't a better one than this on the market at the present time.
Happy with it December 3, 2009 J. Signorino (Austin, TX) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Thinner and better looking than I thought. Easy to read and operate. Reading the various watch thicknesses on similar watches, none are as thin than this watch.
My only "issue" is it is only listed as water resistant for splashing. Still, I am one to always leave my watch on for showering and going under water several feet for swimming. All I know is it hasn't shown any moisture or fog at all taking repeated hot showers. I assume it is OK for swimming as one reviewer proved.
As I get older, I like thin and light much more for a watch. No more big and heavy watches for me.
Casio Casual Classic Digital Unisex Watch FE10-1AV November 3, 2006 D. A. Wolochow 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Easy to read, easy to program, reliable and attractive. What more needs to be said about this watch---from a company that has proven to be one of the best digital watchmakers in recent decades. My Casio WR calculator/alarm/stopwatch lasted over 20 years (I recently replaced it with an identical model). The FE10-1AV is even simpler, although it doesn't have a calculator. You can't have everything!
Nice slim watch February 9, 2008 redvsblue21 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This watch has a nice look to it; you can ware it in the shower; is very durable; built in stop watch; Is about a half a centimeter at its thickest point; I can wear it under gloves; sometimes I forget I'm even wearing it. It's so comfortable. I would recomend this watch to anyone who doesn't like wearing one.
Best Watch i've ever owned April 1, 2008 Glenn Ladkin (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
What can I say
i have just ordered 2 more of model F-E10 and apart from the strap breaking its been the best watch i have ever known Ive got my rolex and my Armani which are both very pretty and ive got my Citizen Dive watch however it is this Casio that beats them all
1. I can see the large digits without my reading glasses
2. It is waterproof to 150ft ok I wouldnt use it as a dive watch but it is a handy backup timer even without the strap
3. Its an illuminator with digits you can read in the dark insted of a green blur at 3am
4. If it gets lost or damaged its not the end of the world
5. It has a contemporary look knowing cheaper watches usually look quite dated after a couple of years I have no problem in wearing it anytime night or day.
6. The Alarm wakes me every morning
The only downside is the strap mine usually last about a years hard wear but in saying that I have just split the strap on mumber 7 and have brought replacement watches in the past from Germany, France & Portugal as well as the UK so it tells you it is more of an inconvenience than a deal breaker.
Long live the F-E10
I just wish it was easier to get replacements
