Excerpt: ... REGISTER OF THE CLERGY LABORING EST THE ARCHDIOCESE OF NEW YORK FROM EARLY MISSIONARY TIMES TO 1885. By The Most Rev. Michael Augustine Corrigan, D.D. IV. Hughes, Most Rev. John, D.D., Fourth Bishop And First Archbishop Of New York. The Most Rev. John Hughes was born at Annaloghan, County Tyrone, Ireland, on the feast of St. John the Baptist, June 24, 1797.
